Campagnolo is an italian company which is famous for their extraordinary roadbike parts. They have an own wheel and wheelset development center and the lightweight attributes respectively the performance of the wheels was always superior in the past.
Now, in April 2011, they published a new design of the Campagnolo Bora Ultra wheelset within the presentation of the new 2012 lightweight bicycle components.
The main features are a new color theme („Dark Label“) and new 80 mm wheels (Pro’s& Con’s of 80 mm rims). The 80 mm rims are for tubular tyres and and own a new carbon made hub cartridge. The front wheel is built radially with 16 spokes while the rear wheel is built with 18 spokes.
The weight of the Campagnolo wheelset is about 1540 grams (front: 715 grams / rear: 825 grams) – a really nice fact.
Besides the „Dark Label“ Style, there are several other styles available (you can see it at the pictures in this article).
Finally, the new Campagnolo Bora Ultra wheelset seems to be a really powerful tire set for ambitious road cyclists. Especially for triathlon or time race use, they are first choice. In fact, the really leight weight constitutes maximum performance, but you have to pay a lot of money for this. But this is always a problem for high-end, carbon-made bike parts.
